Central Pacific Bank (CPB) employees, family and friends did a charity walk at Kaka’ako Waterfront Park this past weekend to help raise money for four local nonprofits. The third annual CPB Walks For You event, held on Saturday, May 12, marked the culmination of two months of fundraising efforts by the company’s more than 900 employees.

Checks were presented to four employee-selected beneficiaries on the day of the walk: American Heart Association; American Cancer Society; Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation; and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. To increase giving, this year, the Central Pacific Bank Foundation matched 50% of donations to all beneficiary organizations.

“Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation is pleased to be a beneficiary of CPB’s upcoming walk,” said Mina Humphreys, HCCF Fundraising Chair. “All the money raised from this event will be used for the foundation’s Family Financial Assistance Program, which helps Hawaii families pay expenses not covered by insurance while their child is being treated for cancer. All of us at HCCF send our heartfelt thanks to CPB and their employees for their incredible support and generosity.”

About 550 participants completed the walk, including CPB canine mascot Alex, as well as other four-legged friends such as Tucker of Hawaii Children’s Cancer Society, and adoptable pets provided by SPCA.

“Our walk is another way in which our employees exemplify our longstanding commitment toward improving the quality of life and wellbeing of the communities we serve,” said John Dean, President & CEO of Central Pacific Bank.
