HONOLULU, HI – May 3, 2014 – Central Pacific Bank (CPB) employees, family and friends walked to help raise money for three local nonprofits at Kapiolani Park. The fourth annual CPB Walks For You event, held Saturday, May 3, marked the culmination of two months of fundraising efforts by the company's more than 800 employees.

Three checks totaling $120,501 were presented to the following employee-selected beneficiaries: Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, Hawaiian Humane Society and Special Olympics Hawaii. The total amount raised includes a 50% match from the Central Pacific Bank Foundation.

"All of us at Special Olympics Hawaii feel incredibly fortunate to be one of the three recipients of the 2014 Central Pacific Bank charity walk," said Nancy Bottelo, President & Chief Executive Officer of Special Olympics Hawaii. "Central Pacific Bank's generosity helps support our fundraising efforts to ensure that individuals with intellectual disabilities continue to participate in the programs we offer free of charge to both the athletes and their families on Oahu."

About 600 participants completed the walk, including CPB canine mascot Alex. Since Central Pacific Bank launched its annual Walks For You fundraiser, the event has raised nearly $450,000 for Hawaii nonprofits.

"Our employees really get excited about helping our community," said John Dean, President & CEO of Central Pacific Bank. "This year's effort included over 30 fundraisers and has culminated today with the presentation of checks to three very deserving local organizations."
