Central Pacific Bank Promotes Six to Senior Leadership Positions

HONOLULU, HI | July 20, 2021 – Central Pacific Bank (CPB) announced the promotion of Lori Bettencourt, Sheri Braunthal, Thuy Nguyen-Martines, Scott Palmer, Ian Tanaka, and Alyssa Tercino to Senior Vice Presidents of their respective divisions.


Lori Bettencourt

CPB has appointed Lori Bettencourt to Senior Vice President & Director of Customer Service Center. In her new position, Bettencourt is responsible for leading CPB’s Customer Service Center to ensure the seamless delivery of an exceptional experience to both internal and external customers. She is also responsible for the digital servicing and growth for new online opened accounts and the recent release of our new chat channel that includes AI and live agent support.

Bettencourt previously served as Vice President & Director of Customer Service Center and has over 20 years of customer service experience in the hospitality and financial industries. She also serves as an Alliance Board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii and co-chairs the Youth of the Year celebrations. Bettencourt is also a member of the Aloha United Way’s Women United.

Sheri Braunthal

CPB has appointed Sheri Braunthal to Senior Vice President, Director, HR Service Center. In this role, Braunthal is responsible for managing and overseeing day-to-day customer service and support activities of HR. This includes compensation, employee benefits, payroll, HR administration and operations.

Braunthal has more than 30 years of experience in the areas of HR, community service and employee benefits. She was previously Vice President, Director, HR Service Center. She also serves as a board member of the Hawaii Association of Health Underwriters (HAHU), Special Olympics Hawaii and McKinley High School Business Academy and chairs Palama Settlement’s HR Committee.

Thuy Nguyen-Martines

CPB has promoted Thuy Nguyen-Martines to Senior Vice President, Senior Private Banking Manager. She is responsible for management of the Private Banking Department which provides customized financial services tailored to the unique, complex needs of high-income and high-asset clients.

Nguyen-Martines has over 25 years of experience in the financial service industry. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, International Business from Linfield College, McMinnville, Oregon. Nguyen-Martines is a past president of Soroptimist International of Honolulu. She served on the boards of Hawaii Opera Theatre, March of Dimes, and was in the Pacific Business News’ 40 Under 40, Class of 2012. She has been nominated to the Honolulu Zoological Society’s Board and is looking forward to taking on the Treasurer position.

CPB has promoted Scott Palmer to Senior Vice President Division Manager, Central Pacific Investment Services (CPIS).

Palmer has over 30 years of experience in banking, dedicating 23 of those years to leading successful bank brokerage programs on the Mainland and Hawaii. As part of the Wealth Management Division, Palmer and his team provide financial planning, investments, and insurance solutions to our Hawaii communities. According to Palmer, having a comprehensive financial plan is the key to accumulate, protect, and distribute wealth. Palmer has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara, holds the Series 6, 7, 63, 66, 26, 24, and 53 FINRA licenses as well a Certificate in Financial Planning from DePaul University.

CPB has promoted Ian Tanaka to Senior Vice President, Treasurer. In his new position, Tanaka is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the Treasury division. He is responsible for the management of the CPB’s balance sheet and profitability, capital, liquidity, interest rate risk, investment portfolio, and foreign exchange operations.

Tanaka has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry. He previously served as Vice President, Treasury Manager. Tanaka has a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and International Business from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®).

Alyssa Tercino

CPB has promoted Alyssa Tercino to Senior Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis Manager. In her new position, Tercino is responsible for overseeing the annual budgeting process, designing, and maintaining profitability reporting systems, and driving enterprise data analytics. Tercino leads the effort to develop and maintain actionable performance measurements and KPIs at the line-of-business, product, and customer levels to support strategic initiatives and efficiency enhancements.

Tercino has over 10 years of experience in the financial industry. She previously served as Vice President, Financial Planning & Manager. She has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Washington and a Master of Accounting from University of Hawaii. She currently serves as Treasurer on the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii Alliance Board and is a member of the YWCA Oahu Finance Committee.
