Central Pacific Bank Foundation Awards $40,000 Grant to Goodwill

HONOLULU, HI (August 15, 2025) – Central Pacific Bank Foundation is awarding a $40,000 grant to Goodwill Industries of Hawaii (Goodwill Hawaii), supporting the organization’s transformative Hilo Campus Sustainability Capital Campaign. The multi-year grant, awarded over two years, will help advance Goodwill Hawaii’s efforts to build a modern, consolidated hub for workforce development, disability services, youth programs, and community sustainability on Hawaii Island.
Goodwill Hawaii’s new campus, located on a 1.4-acre site just minutes from Hilo town, will bring all of the organization’s Hawaii Island services under one roof for the first time. Once complete, the state-of-the-art facility will house:
- A Career & Learning Center
- Programs serving at-risk youth and adults with disabilities
- Job training and placement services
- A full-service Goodwill Store and drive-thru donation center
- Hawaii Island’s first large-scale textile and cardboard recycling facility
The project directly responds to significant community needs, as East Hawaii continues to experience the state’s highest unemployment and poverty rates. Goodwill’s campus aims to create new jobs, expand core social services, and increase capacity to serve more than 2,300 Hawaii Island residents annually.
“Goodwill’s vision for the Hilo campus is practical and urgently needed,” said Catherine Ngo, President of Central Pacific Bank Foundation. “We’re proud to support a project that strengthens workforce opportunities, services, and sustainability on Hawaii Island.”
A ceremonial check presentation ceremony was held on October 29, 2025, to commemorate the donation.
