Eight local nonprofits receive $625k thanks to CPB Foundation and Federal Home Loan Bank

HONOLULU, HI (April 14, 2025) – Thanks to the Central Pacific Bank (CPB) Foundation and matching funds from the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Des Moines, $625,000 has been donated to eight local nonprofit organizations for projects and programs that benefit Hawaii’s people.

The local recipients were selected by CPB Foundation based on need and the ability of the program to support residents. Projects that could be announced at this time include:

• aio Foundation: $275,000 for Hui Mahiai Village, a planned community of homes and communal facilities in Waimanalo for approximately 192 currently houseless individuals
• King Lunalilo Trust: $62,500 to help fund pre-development costs for a 20-unit affordable housing project in Hawaii Kai
• Holomua Collective: $37,500 for its Lahaina Deed Restriction Grant Program
• St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii: $37,500 to provide resources as the organization transforms itself for long-term sustainability
• The Institute for Human Services: $37,500 to help build administrative offices to increase efficiency and better support the unhoused community it serves
• Hawaiian Community Assets: $25,000 to support their mission of building the capacity of low- and moderate-income communities to achieve and sustain economic self-sufficiency
• Child & Family Service: $25,000 to support initiatives for community development, family and youth programs and the prevention of child abuse

In recent years, aio Foundation has focused on solutions to help empower those who feel powerless and disenfranchised, including the building of communities such as Hui Mahiai Village in Waimanalo that will not only provide homes for the houseless, but also offerresidents educational programs and social structure to help them live more fulfilling lives. The CPB Foundation is a longstanding partner of the aio Foundation including on its recent Kahauiki Village project. CPB Foundation is honored to be helping bring more affordable housing to Hawaii residents.

Since its inception in 2007, the CPB Foundation has committed to strengthening Hawaii’s communities through partnerships, collaborations and signature programs that provide investment and leadership to provide support where it is needed most, and by helping Hawaii define a path to a brighter future.
